Unbelievable!!! How do they get away with it? How do they keep each other on the same side? How do they read what they said right after 9/11 and through the years following and read what they are saying now?

How can Bush say,
"either you're with us or you're with the terrorists,"
and now he's saying
"the American people who disagree with me are fine Americans, they are all loyal citizens, they love this country. The only trouble is, they're wrong."?

Jay Ackroyd, whose current blog is the The Schumer Watch, has this comment in The Washington Watch of December, 2005:

They deliberately lied because they thought it didn't matter. An honest case for invading Iraq would not have sold well. They believed this fantasy, and therefore they lied about the degree of threat--without at doubt wrt links to iraq and al Qaeda, iraq and 9/11 and iraqi nukes. That's what the sucker voters would accept, so that was their line. They believed that it would be candy and flowers, but that was a subsidiary line.

They (and you've got to understand that they've got this secret language thing going from Strauss) thought they'd win a walk and the justification wouldn't matter. It's deeply part of their ideology that the populace are dupes. When Packer points out that they are Trotskyites who have switched sides, he's making a key point.

Lies about Links Between Iraq, Al Qaeda

Why are we still paying attention to these neoconservatives at all? If a doctor diagnoses you as having cancer and prescribes a dangerous treatment for it, and then you go to another doctor who shows that the first diagnosis was wrong and the chemotherapy and surgery were unnecessary, you don't go back to the first doctor to ask what he thinks. You sue him for every dollar he has, and then you go after his license to practice.

I wanted to thank you for the Cheney quote about Baghdad, which I found on your site (among others). I incorporated it into a short video I made on the rape of Iraq, which you can see at

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbrGfBtTK4M

and which you are welcome to embed anywhere you think it would do any good!

Best wishes,
Michel Griffin

For a good definition of neo-libertarian check out QandO.net. It's also a great site, I check it out every day and highly recommend it.

To President Bush, history is not a complex record of the past, to be studied intensively for lessons. It’s a grab bag of myths and half-truths, to be dredged for political effect—a device that provides rhetorical cover, and allows evasion of responsibility, in the face of gross and obvious failure.

I like your optimism about pulling out of Iraq, Afghanistan, and a bunch of other places. Imperialism is no way for a great nation to behave. I hope that the next president and congreffs is better, but I am not naive enough to believe anything will be voluntarily changed. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I'm in awe that you visited my site. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I'm old, and new to the blogosphere. Your passion and the power of your site is a little intimidating. I'll take it as a challenge to educate myself to your perspective and experience.
Thanks again,
Peggy aka Utah Savage
